[the locket's cut off then, as she's clearly going to come down within the next fifteen minutes. wait for her, Henry...even if she doesn't know which section you're in and is going to have to check one by one.]
[She'll find him sitting at a table with books on alchemy piled high. He looks up from his current reading and sets it aside when he notices that red hair out of the corner of his eye. There are still scratches covering him, but luckily only a few more shallow ones are visible, all the stitches hidden by clothes.]
[-oh, well. That sounds very good, he could use quite a bit of help right now.]
Ah, luckily that is not a thing which is terribly affected by my loss, as my learnings started in life. I would consider myself rather advanced in some areas, yet exceptionally green in others.
[He pauses, trying to think of something that isn't simply following after her. Clearly that isn't what she wants, some sort of attempt related to the subject at hand, some kind of telekinesis. But...he really doesn't know the first thing about it. He has had telepathic links with his Masters, but that's still pretty different.
The poor weenie looks absolutely lost. He tried to invoke the same feeling as that Master-Servant link, but gets the feeling he's just in his own head and nothing more.]
[she sighs after a moment, shutting the book between her palms and giving him a look that translates to come on then, outside with you and turns on her heel to lead the way.
where they're going is a small courtyard not far from the library, with enough space for the two of them to stand a ways apart, and she places the book to the side before fixing him with her gaze.]
I want you to imagine that you're reaching out and shoving me. You can reach your arms out like you're doing it, one good shove. But instead of the motion stopping, imagine it continuing, and think about pouring your energy into it. The motion of what you're doing will continue on without you, this is something you have to view as fact. Push with both your hands and your spirit.
[Despite the fact she just got stabbed with a magical cursed spear and made her way back to the clinic with her arm still bleeding, her reaction is pretty much unsuited for what she's approaching him for.
So, same as usual.
She finds the room Jekyll's always working in and stands by the doorframe, clutching her shoulder with her uninjured arm's hand.]
[Honestly the last thing he would have expected Lucifer to need him for would be his actual job. If anything even could hurt the devil, then obviously he'd heal up quickly. But when he hears his Master's voice and turns to answer to it, he sees the blood and...stares in shock.]
[The one time he won't freak out about it - PROFESSIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES that clearly makes everything different, won't bat an eye in the face of nudity if it's for science.]
What... [should he even ask, no, he should.] What happened?
[She doesn't respond until she's taken it off, folding it to put on the floor beside her.]
I got stabbed by someone in a fight because he did me a favor.
I was gonna just let him go, but then I realized the monarchs would probably throw a hissy fit if they saw. I don't know if they would, but I didn't want to take a chance, so I figure I'd fake it for a little while and then leave.
Then it turns out it was Mac Lir's stupid cursed spear. Wounds don't heal when that thing stabs you.
Oh, you met Diarmuid? He did a similar favour for me at Caer Scima last year...but not with that spear.
[That's...well. Jekyll brings over a tray of tools, forceps, needle and thread, surgical knife, etc. along with a clean cloth and a disinfectant solution, and pulls up a seat beside her to inspect the wound.]
Not that kind of favor. He taught me how to use my shard, just...he didn't know I was the one who tried to kill him a few months before that.
So I thought, y'know, he likes doing the whole stupid heroic "I'm gonna save people!" thing so...if I just let him go about his business without getting in the way this time around, we're even.
I just didn't realize who he was before he stabbed me.
[She slumps a bit in her chair, sighing.]
These lapses in judgement keep happening while I'm here and I don't know why. If it were anywhere else I probably would have recognized him immediately.
[Haha, yeah...'stupid heroic I'm gonna save people thing'...that sure is stupid...]
Well...does this form of you exist throughout all worlds? It isn't so for Heroic Spirits, at the very least. If not, then it is simply a different iteration, and so it is hardly a lapse in judgement or any other fault of your own.
[The way he smiles to comfort her, all bedside manner, you would think he didn't know Hikaru was anything more than the teenage girl she appears.
Having washed the wound, he checks for any jagged edges, but didn't expect to find any and isn't disappointed. A clean stab or cut shouldn't leave a mess behind. Which means one less step. Still wiping blood away, he can move on to stitches.]
[She actually watches the whole process with...interest? Yeah, definitely interest. She hasn't seen this done before.]
Huh? [Her attention snaps back to him briefly, then she shakes her head.] --oh, no. It isn't like that.
It's...when I'm Hikaru, I'm still me 100%. It's just like taking on a different personality subconsciously; everything I say is what I'd say normally, it's just presented differently.
So it's easier to take it as separating 'Lucifer' and 'Hikaru' as two people, but it's also the wrong way to express it. It isn't like you and Edward; it's more like changing who you are...but at the same time staying true to your 'self' where it matters most, just for a little while.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. Nothing I can't handle; just stupid little incidents like this.
[It's only that he's true to himself in a different way.]
Regardless, that isn't what I meant - what I should say is, does the same mind, or soul if you will, for lack of any better term, exist across all realities? For example, one of the Servants I faced, as it turns out, was the same hero as the Unseelie general Saber. And yet distinctly different, in personality and even sex. It is a little different to begin with as we are really more the copy of the original soul than anything and so cannot remember other summonings, but it is clear that she is 'a different person' across different worlds. Even if we had the ability to connect with different forms of our same selves, I doubt she and that Saber would know anything of one another. So if you do not recognise people like us, who you might otherwise, could that be the reason, that we do not normally exist as we are, where you are?
Oh, that's what you meant. Well he is pretty much different, but- [She taps under her right eye.] -he has the love spot and his name's Diarmuid.
I mean everything else was wrong, but sharing those two things makes it really obvious who he is. It's like if you told someone about the serum thing along with your name and they still didn't get it.
...assuming they're familiar with the book and stuff.
Ah, I see, well then, I suppose that's a little different, if you knew his name beforehand. Well, even so, one wouldn't expect someone they are familiar with to take another form, it's easily passed off as coincidence.
[He smiles to reassure her once again, as if she were the girl she appears to be and nothing more. Meanwhile, despite the conversation, he pays full attention to each and every stitch made, all perfectly uniform, pausing now and then to wipe some fresh blood. After making the last and closing off the end, he returns to the desk for a jar of honey, to layer over the wound.]
I'm glad that I am able to be of some use to you, for once.
Don't sell yourself too short. You'd be of more use to most other masters than Hyde would, I'm sure.
[It actually reminds her of Hyde, in a way; only rather than it sounding like a whole lot of tryhard kissing up, it sounds like a lot of tryhard reassurance. It's a strange way to see similarities between them anyway, and not one she expected.
So she's going to approach this how she approaches Hyde and ignore the topic, turning it to what he's doing instead, something she's more interested in.]
