And with it on the floor, the body of a native farmer Jekyll had treated and quite liked - torn in just the same way his own body is.

He doesn't actually find it until two days later, making it all the worse. Horrified and weeping, Jekyll has to bury the body outside.

It takes a full day to even acknowledge what has happened, but finally he leaves a note of his own.

It is my fault, it is your fault, you cannot blame anything on some other person. What monster takes his rage for his own mistakes out upon an innocent man.
