Hyde. [ She cants her head to the side, then shrugs. ] A "quest". I was bored, so perhaps this will be interesting. It takes me away and to the borders, though. I do not know how long that will have me gone, even though there are horses.
No. I'll have one of the people sent with me do that part.
[ SHE WILL NEVER LEARN TO RIDE or no she will probably, but she has yet to bother. ]
They wish me to lead some reinforcements to the borders. Apparently the other court is being a nuisance there. I'm to see what's going on and then report back.
[He takes Dorian's arm to walk with him into the Station, to retrieve the medicine from his temporary, makeshift lab table.]
I am no longer human, I subsist on magical energy, normally provided by my Master. It heals and provides other such heightened abilities. ...Although now without such a source, it really is more difficult. Perhaps it's possible here after all?
True. That must be among the reasons they sent you. I'm a little bit jealous. You will tell me all about it, won't you?
[He means to say he's jealous of both what she's doing and her immortality. Hyde would take both more than gladly. Not so much orders, but to be at the battlefront it would be worth it.]
If they decide to assign something interesting to me of their own accord, then I will do. I won't seek it out, lest they should mistake me for someone who will obey.
Nothing has changed so far as I am concerned. It's good to see you won't choose misguided loyalty over it.
[Not that he thought she would, necessarily, but he is always suspicious of others for one reason or other.]
[A conscientious person may be worried that their friend isn't as immortal as they thought they are. Dorian is a bit more egocentric.] So . . . the energy to heal, it comes from this Master of yours, from his magical energy. Where does he get the energy?
By my understanding, it is a sort of nervous system. Something very similar to one's heart producing blood and its path through the body. Although Tatsumi produces very little, it can be quite the problem at times.
[Mostly in that Berserker could very well kill him by using too much, which would be easy to do with his Noble Phantasm...]
Food can account for some, in just the way it would for a normal human. It is transferred to me through our pact. We share a sort of spiritual link. ...Well, not anymore, but we did, before this place. There are other ways to transfer prana, but- well, none I wish even to speak of.
You're wise not to. They are all hypocrites. The worst sort of lowlife there is. I would never trust someone like that. Any manner of criminal is fine, but never trust a man with delusions of nobility.
[ Also, she doesn't see the point of nobility...humans are just weirdoes!!! Well, maybe there's something to it. For certain humans. But earning Shijima's regard is a tricky process and the rules are unwritten and flexible and nigh impossible...
So. ]
I don't think they're as noble as all that, either. Some would kill for no noble cause. Some do seem to have delusions, though, and pointless rebellions with no plans at all.
All that and more. They hide behind terms such as 'chivalry', which are meaningless, when knights turn around and slaughter innocent people for no reason whatsoever. And yet they are praised for their good deeds, where another would be hunted down. You are truly the lucky one to have been something other than human from the start.
I am no longer human, though I was in life - yes, even after the experiment, if you had wondered on that. A Heroic Spirit is just that, a spirit, held together by magic.
[He shrugs.] They think it makes them exempt from any blame. And of course others allow it to be so.
You think that so strange? [He laughs through his nose.] Edward Hyde. Surely Shijima is not the only part to your name - although perhaps it would seem irrelevant to a cat.
We have strange ideas about many things. Heroism and morality is only one.
[ Four, if you count the ridiculous mythical creature name she and Kouichi share... ]
I didn't pick any of them myself, though. They're not any business of mine. As to the ideas...I suppose it's true. Humans tend to make things more complicated then they have to be. They should try just lazing away all day, instead.
